Welcome!
Who is Combat Warrior Crisis Network?
Our focus is to provide the Armed Forces with an alternate view or means to assist the healing process after a combat related injury.
Our Mission Statement:
We strive to show that there are people out there that care, and want to help. There are resources in both the public and military communities, many armed forces members are not aware that exist. One of the programs we offer is Take a Soldier Fishing.
Our organization focuses on the ever growing need to support the service members AND their spouses before, during, and after deployments. Fishing and the outdoors are our main focus for support and assisting our participants in learning positive tools to assist with stress.
Our Vision:
Our overall vision for Combat Warrior Crisis Network is to be able to adapt and overcome the growing number of service members with service and combat related issues. We are currently in the process of implementing Marriage Getaways that will provide couples with the opportunity to re-connect and provide relief from the stress of responsibilities at home. Everyone needs a moment for quiet time and the opportunity for reflection and relaxation that we hope our events are able to provide.
Whether it is marriage issues, individual suffering, spiritual issues, or just the need of a friend, we see a great need for spouse support for injured soldiers. Someone that can relate and explain what their soldier is going through, why, and give suggestions on how to overcome the issues.
Our future vision is to be able to offer our services to all military bases to help the quality of life be improved for all service members. We wish to expand our fishing program to all installations and offer trips to all service members at the installation level.
We hope to show service members that there are people out there:
1) That care and support them.
2) That there is life after deployment.
3) There are ways to deal with and cope with each other and with the world around them.
How our organization/program helps others:
We believe our organization and programs help by offering support in a non-traditional way. By offering support this way we can reach service members at a different level to where they are responsive to suggestions on how to change or correct something that may be affecting themselves or their loved ones negatively. The majority of this opportunity comes from other service members in an informal group environment. We believe that support is the cornerstone for our program’s success.
We do not diagnose, we offer the opportunity for enjoying the outdoors, fellowship, and reflection in a safe environment. The opportunity to explore the Christian Faith, is also offered, although is not a requirement for those participating in our events. We are a Non Denominational Faith Based Christian Ministry. However, we strongly believe that a spirituality and religious preferences are personal and we are respectful and tolerant of each individual’s spiritual beliefs.
We assist the Texas communities at large, by offering them the ability to show their support for the troops by having our fishing program. This allows the service member to see just how much they are appreciated by a total stranger. For those that serve to support our fishing program, it gives the individual to see how their support makes a profound difference in a service member or veterans life by proving a positive outdoor experience.
What is the Take a Soldier Fishing program?
TASF is a program that falls under CWCN and allows a place where Citizens (Veterans) and service members can be brought together, and make a connection and go fishing. We also are working on a fishing program for Ft Hood and would like to expand to other military installations.
We find people that are willing to put together events and coach them on how to do so. We help them by providing support and encouragement and offer a link to the service members through the site.
We currently have a program set up for Alaska and Texas. These programs involve the military bases and local communities around the bases. Fishing trips are set up for a small number of service members and they enjoy a nice day of fishing with people that know the local area. At Ft. Hood we are currently putting the final touches on the Ft. Hood Fishing Program where we take 40 soldiers at a time around to lakes throughout the state of Texas. The local communities that become involved, generally support these events by providing rooms, food, and boats for soldiers that attend these events.
We started TASF, originally as a way to get the solders of Ft Hood out of their rooms and away from Ft Hood. We wanted to show them that the rest of the world does not see our soldiers the same as the news media portrays. We have found that by providing these trips that we may be able to reduce the number of suicides, person to person crimes, and the amount of trouble the average soldier might be able to get into.
We have also found that soldiers have also changed their outlook on life, the way they feel about wearing their uniform, and have given them a sense of hope. By providing these trips we have also given them something to look forward to as well.
Who can become involved?
Anyone can be involved with this program. Generally we involve the local communities when we put an event on. They just need to have a love for our country and the want to support our service members.
